Section 1: “Becoming a Disciple”                 Session 6: “Discipling Other Believers”

It’s all about JESUS.

His EXAMPLE.

The chosen 12

I am not LIKE Christ if I am not discipling others.

His COMMAND.

Matthew 28:19-20  Go… make disciples… teaching them to obey

everything I have commanded you

I am not OBEDIENT TO Christ if I am not discipling others.

His PROMISE.

Mark 1:17 “Come, follow me… and I will make you fishers of men.”

I am not BELIEVING Christ if I am not discipling others.

“But I can’t have someone follow me around like Jesus did.”

It’s not me HAVING MY OWN DISCIPLES

I Corinthians 1:12-13 One of you says, “I follow Paul; another, “I follow Apollos; another, “I

follow Cephas; still another, “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for

you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?

It’s me helping others be CHRIST’S DISCIPLES.

From WHATEVER POINT they’re at.

Philip & the Ethiopian (Acts 8:26-40) “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip

asked. “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?”

Always someone “behind” me to share my understanding with… “even” with me for mutual encouragement… and “ahead” of me, that allowing them to disciple me disciples them disciples them!

Inspired by MY OWN GROWTH.

I Corinthians 10:31 – 11:1 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the

glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greek or the church of

God – even as I try to please everybody in every way. For I am not seeking my own

good, but the good of many, so that they may be saved. Follow my example, as I

follow the example of Christ.

Yes, it’s an INVESTMENT,

but it’s WIN WIN WIN!”

Paul & Titus in Titus 1:4-5 & 3:12-14 To Titus, my true son in our common faith… The

reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished

and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you. …  As soon as I send Artemas or

Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to

winter there. Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their

way and see that they have everything they need. Our people must learn to devote

themselves to doing what is good, In order that they may provide for daily necessities

and not live unproductive lives.

The “disciplee” / the discipler  /  the Kingdom
